8 VISITPERDIDO.COM LIVE IN PERDIDO Whether you already live in the Peridido Key area or you're thinking about moving, it's important to know the history of our little island. In 1693, famous Spanish explorer Siguenza found himself on Perdido Key after a storm blew his ship off course. Our name alone tells the tale of how hidden our 16-mile-long island really is. Perdido is Spanish for "lost," and we've remained a lost island ever since our discovery hundreds of years ago.
