VISITPERDIDO.COM 52 Artful Experiences : A FAMILY TOURS FORT PICKENS : BALLERINAS PERFORM IN THE SAENGER THEATER Orange Beach es The amount and variety of art and culture the Gulf Coast houses is unprecedented for someone who isn't from here. Even if you are originally from here, let's see if we can blow your mind with everything the area has to offer. From Foley, Ala., to Pensacola Beach, Fla., there is so much to do for children, families, and adults. The Foley Art Center (211 N McKenzie St., Foley, AL 36535) features a number of spectacular local artists year- round. The Center also offers Cultural Enrichments Programs in the local schools and hosts the annual Art in the Park festival, which includes over 80 presenting artists in Heritage Park in Foley. Since 1982, the Gulf Shores Museum (244 W. 19th Ave., Gulf Shores, AL 36542) has been a library and a youth center. It now holds several permanent exhibits, such as "Portrait of a Fishing Village," created by residents of Lagoon Village to tell the story of its original settlers. It also offers both youth and adult programs year-round. Admission is free to the public. Originally opened in 2013, the Coastal Art Center (26389 Canal Rd., Orange Beach, AL 36561) is now awaiting a new building to be completed in 2017, after their first was torn down due to structural damage. Have no fear, though, the Coastal Art Center's new building will still feature the original works of various local artists from photography, water color, glass artists and more. For now, you can stop by the Center's temporary location in the construction trailer located at the front of their cultural campus. They are open Monday-Friday from 9 am-4 pm.
